San Francisco City Hall Elopement | Katie + Charlie

location: San Francisco City Hall & Lands End
cake: James and the Giant Cupcake (Oakland)
wine: Scharffenberger (Anderson Valley)

Katie and Charlie eloped at San Francisco City Hall on a quiet Monday in February.

They wanted to start their marriage alone, together, and they’ll celebrate later with friends and family at parties in their respective hometowns. They wanted to capture the beginning of their marriage in a way that felt natural and comfortable, knowing they’d be sharing the photos with their friends and family as a way of bringing them into the moment. They wanted their loved ones to recognize them, wanted people to see their unique sweetness and endless giggles shine through.

After their ceremony, we picked up their pup and made our way out to Lands End for cake and sparkling Scharffenberger and the most incredible view.

My favorite part about letting people find their own way during portraits is that you tend to see the same gestures throughout - the way Charlie rests his head along Katie’s temple, the way his hand naturally finds her waist. It’s nothing I’ve asked of them, and it’s something they probably do daily, without knowing it, and will do throughout the rest of their lives.
